Here's a thank you letter format from my-easy-resume.com that you can use to create an effective thank you letter.

Part 1 - Contact Details - You want to place this information in the top left or top right of your thank you letter.

Part 2 - Company Details - Place this information on the left side just above the names of the person you are writing to.

Contact Name (First and Last Name)

Title

Company Name

Address

City, State, Zip Code

Part 3 - Salutation - This is where you address your cover letter as follows:

Dear Mr. Smith

Dear Ms. Smith

Part 4 - Opening paragraph - This is where you want to thank the interviewer for taking the time to meet with you.

Part 5 - Middle Paragraph - Here is where you will want to let the employer know that you really enjoyed speaking with them and having the opportunity to discuss a few specific topics that you feel are important to the position that you applying for.

Part 6 - Closing Paragraph - This is where you summarize that you feel your qualifications would prove beneficial to this employer. Just a few sentences but you want them to know that you are the one for the job! End this paragraph with another thank you and let them know that you look forward to hearing from them very soon.

Part 7 - Signature - End your thank you letter with a simple final greeting such as "Best Regards" or "Sincerely" and then your name typed out. Leave space in-between the greeting and your typed name so that you can add your personal signature.

Key Item - Don't forget to sign your thank you letter! As explained on our Thank You Letter Advice page a personal signature demonstrates a sign of professionalism.

That's the basic thank you letter format. Keep it simple and sincere and you will create a very effective thank you letter.
