Summary of Qualifications - Instead of a resume objective, consider using a three-line summary of the skills and experience you have acquired in your career to give your prospective employers a good idea of who you are. These summary statements are extremely effective in creating a strong first impression.

An example might be:

Over 20 years of sales, marketing and management experience. Skilled in making sales presentations, client negotiations and market analysis. Proficient in several computer software programs including MS Office.



2. Skill Grouping - Your employment experience, no matter how many companies or careers you have already worked in, is extremely valuable to a prospective employer.


One of the best ways to showcase all of that experience and the skills you have acquired is to select a few of the top skills and create your resume around those skill groups. When resume writing for career change your skills become the most important and attractive quality to your potential empoyers. They want to see what you can offer them to fill their needs in the position they are looking to fill.


When using the combination resume format, you can select three or more major skill groups and include your experience from multiple jobs under each group.

A simple way to ensure that your skills will be showcased is to use strong resume power sentences. Select a resume action word that helps describe your skill that you are going to use. For example, let's use "facilitated" for our action word.


Then simply list your skill as well as any results that occurred. An example might be:

The power sentence creates an immediate impact with you reader so make sure to turn all of your bullet points into power sentences.
